¡Ya es hora pues, de sacar a la luz los nuevos colores para las horquillas y pendientes "Gotas"!

Hay siete modelos diferentes, con los colores que reinarán la temporada que viene:

You can find seven different combinations with the main colors for fall 2013:

Como algunas sabréis, son pequeñas gotas de cristal que yo misma pinto. La mayoría llevan toques discretos de purpurina, aunque también hay diseños lisos.

They are little handpainted crystal drops. Most of them have a delicate glitter touch.

Cada pack trae unos pendientes con tuerca de silicona y un par de horquillas en tono plateado. 

Si os apetece solamente uno de los dos o hacer combinaciones, también es posible.

Each pack has a pair of earrings with rubber nuts and two hairpins (silver tone).

Luciérnagas * Glow worms

Este verano he tenido la suerte de ver tres luciérnagas. ¡Una de ellas la podéis ver en mi cuenta de Instagram!

Se trata de unos animales conocidos y muy desconocidos a la vez por casi todos.

Existen varias especies de estos insectos del orden Coleóptera en España, siendo la más común Lampyris noctiluca.

Si conseguimos ver una, podemos decir casi con toda seguridad que se trata de una hembra llamando la atención a los machos. Más difícilmente podremos ver a algún macho volador.

El aspecto de las hembras recuerda a las larvas. El macho es totalmente diferente, más pequeño y alado.

Las luciérnagas adultas no se alimentan: durante su semana de vida (o algo más tiempo si no encuentran rápidamente a una pareja) viven de las reservas que acumuló la larva.

They are several species of this Coleoptera insects. Here in Spain, the most common is Lampyris noctiluca.

They are known and unknown animals at the same time.

If we see one of them, it will be probably a female, trying to get male's attention. Males are hard to see.

Females are similar to larvae. Males are totally different, smaller and winged. 
Adults don't eat: they use reserves of the larval stage.

¿Cómo emiten luz?
How do they emit light?

La luz es producto de unas reacciones químicas en las que una molécula, la luciferina, reacciona con oxígeno y ATP y desprende energía luminosa. Es indispensable la presencia de la enzima luciferasa, para que la reacción se lleve a cabo.

With some chemical reactions where luciferina reacts with oxygen and ATP.

Luciferasa is an essential enzyme for the light production.

Cómo ver una luciérnaga:

How to see a glow worm:

Puede ayudar saber que se alimentan de babosas y caracoles. Prefieren, como éstos, los lugares frescos y húmedos en verano.

Brillan desde finales de junio y hasta principios de agosto, apenas un par de horas (más o menos hasta medianoche). 

It can be useful to know that they eat slugs and snails, so they prefer fresh and damp places.

They shine from the end of June, to the beginning of August, barely a couple of hours (till midnight).

Una vez consiguen captar la atención de un macho se aparean, y van dejando de brillar. Esto quiere decir que si vemos brillar a una luciérnaga durando varios días, quiere decir que ha tenido poca suerte con el sexo opuesto.

They get the attention of a male, and stop shining after mating. This means than if we see a glow worm shining for some days, this female has not been successful.

¿Realmente hay menos que antes?
Are there less glow worms than before?

Puede ser que ahora salimos menos al campo, por la noche y sin linterna, hay demasiada iluminación... 
Hay muchas opiniones al respecto, pero lo que sabemos seguro es que se ven muy perjudicadas es el uso de pesticidas y la contaminación.
Perhaps we visit the countryside less, at night, without a torch; there is too much artificial light...
There are different opinions, but we know for sure, that pesticide and contamination are letal.

Si vas a salir al campo en busca de alguna, recuerda dejar todo como estaba. Respeta el entorno, y a los propios animales y plantas, para que podamos disfrutar de este gran regalo por mucho mucho tiempo.

If you go out to the countryside, remember to leave everything as it was.
Respect enviroment, flora and fauna, to enjoy this great gift for a long long time.

Los muisjes son un recubrimiento de tostas tradicional holandés. Se hacen con semillas de anís recubiertas de azúcar coloreada.

Muisjes are a traditional Dutch open-faced sandwich topping, similar to nonpareils. Their most typical use is on beschuit, or rusk. They are made of aniseed sprinkles with a sugared and colored outer layer.

Muisjes significa “ratoncitos” en holandés. Se llaman así porque la forma de la semilla y su tallo recuerdan a un pequeño ratón con su rabito.
Muisjes, meaning "little mice" in Dutch, are named thusly because the anise seed sprinkles are shaped like little mice, with the stem of the anise seed resembling a tail.

¿Qué relación tienen con la maternidad?

What is the connection between Muisjes and maternity?

Desde el siglo XVII, los padres de un bebé recién nacido reparten tostas con una capa de mantequilla y muisjes a las visitas. Los hermanos mayores de recién nacido también los llevan a la escuela.

Antes del siglo XX, las visitas a un recién nacido solo recibían muisjes blancos, pero estos cambiaron a una mezcla de rosas y blancos tanto para niñas como para niños. 

Con la introducción de los muisjes azules los rosas están actualmente reservados para las niñas.

As early as the 17th century, the parents of a newborn baby gave them away to the baby's visitors. Muisjes are given to the baby's visitors at home, and are brought by older siblings to share at school. This tradition continues today.

Before the 20th century, visitors to a newborn baby got only white muisjes, then this changed to a mix of pink and white muisjes for both boys and girls. With the introduction of blue muisjes, pink muisjes are now reserved for baby girls only.
